AIMS
We advocate the introduction of direct democratic procedures such as
citizens' initiative, issue-ballot, referendum, and recall in Great
Britain and Northern
Ireland. With over ten years' experience we put forward proposals,
provide campaign resources and expert advice, offer to provide
speakers, organise workshops and conferences.
PRINCIPLES
The campaign for direct democracy in Britain presented above and at
iniref.org does not take a position on public policy issues. For
instance, as a campaign, we do not advocate leaving the European Union
nor do we oppose the ban on foxhunting. We are independent of political
parties. Our only aim is to promote the introduction of citizen-led
democracy such as citizen law-making, veto referendum of unwanted
government policy and recall of elected officials such as Members of
Parliament or local government councillors.
