According to an article in The Independent 18th June 2017:
The majority of Britons now want a second
referendum on the UK quitting the European
Union (EU), according to a new survey.
Fifty-three per cent of people would back a vote on
whether to accept the terms of the final
Brexit deal, with 47 per cent opposed, a
Survation poll found.
When the same question was asked in April, a
majority of 54 per cent were against a second
referendum.
The survey results suggest there is increasing
opposition among the public to a “hard Brexit”.
Only 35 per cent agreed with Theresa May that “no
deal is better than a bad deal” in EU
negotiations, the research for The Mail on
Sunday found. (Unquote)
INIREF COMMENTS
We the electorate *should* have the right to launch a
referendum on any public matter. So far we have been denied
this basic political right. In the meantime public
approval for a second UK/EU referendum may be growing

INIREF QUERIES THE DESIGN OF A POSSIBLE SECOND
UK/EU "brexit" REFERENDUM

Referendum2 design
The first "brexit" referendum was badly designed (1).
How do you think that a second referendum about UK and EU should
be organised and designed?
Who should "trigger" the referendum? Parliament? Government? A
large number of citizens?
Which proposals or questions should be on the ballot paper?
Should there be a "hurdle" of minimum turnout below which the
poll would be invalid?
Who should be able to vote? Voting age? Ex-pats ?

Designing a second (21C) UK/EU referendum is a serious, worthy
and urgent cause which therefore deserves to be treated as a
special project. I cannot think of anyone who could make a shot
at this off the top of her or his head (we are plugged into a
network of democracy designers and expert referendum
practitioners). Maybe a way to get started could be to
brainstorm in your group and related networks, perhaps using the
questions which suggested below plus others which you or your
group could suggest. Then you could ask people to write down
their ideas. And/or set up an on-line questionnaire. Then review
and evaluate the results.
Later, probably, we would need to bring together pro-referendum
activists with experts in democracy design to thrash out a well
made proposal.
{Added 18.6.2017 Does anyone out there want to help or get
involved in designing Referendum2 ? }
